The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum (NASM) maintains the largest collection of historic air and spacecraft in the world and is one of the capital's biggest attractions, attracting nearly 9 million visitors annually.   At the NASM you'll see aircraft ranging from the Wright Brothers "Flyer" (aka "Kitty Hawk" to more recent spacecraft.   The museum also serves as a vital center for research into the history, science, and technology of aviation and space flight.

The main entrance to the NASM is on Independence Avenue between 4th and 7th Streets SW.
